Ross was born on December 7, 1932, in Gainesville, Missouri to Roscoe and Caroline “Callie” Boatright and was the youngest of nine children. Ross enlisted in the Coast Guard after high school and served his country during the Korean War. After military service, Ross went to business school in Kansas City, where he met and married the love of his life Bertye Kaneaster in 1960. The couple had three sons who remember him as a devoted, dedicated, and loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Ross loved coaching his sons’ baseball teams and consistently spent his summer vacations as a scout leader at their Boy Scout camps in Osceola, Missouri. Ross was passionate about supporting his sons’ scouting goals, leading to all three boys achieving the level of Eagle Scout.
Ross worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Schock Truck Leasing before moving to Mid-City Truck Reconditioning as a bookkeeper and office manager. He was an active and dedicated member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and served as an Usher as well as leading the Joy Ministry. He and Bertye were active members of their Sunday School class where they shared the love of Jesus and made many lifetime friends.
Ross is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertye; his children and grandchildren, Dennis, Becky and daughter Vicki; Dan, Marie and sons Jason and David Ryan; and David, Kali and son Aiden and daughter Devon; as well as his sister Anne Venable.
