Sal was born on Nov. 27, 1940 in Kansas City, MO. to Salvatore J. Arello and Susanna B Arello (Agrusa). He attended Northeast High School and married his “Queen” Shirley (Pasley) in 1959. Sal served our country in the Navy for 6 years on the USS Johnston. Although Sal was quite the mechanic he went into the family grocery business, Deluxe Market/Sal’s Deli. Sal later helped create and manage a margarita/cocktail mix, Pro Bar, Inc. and retired in 2016.
Sal was an accomplished scuba diver and owned his own Dive shop in the 1970’s where he loved to teach his family to scuba dive. In his younger years Sal volunteered to clean up pollution in our local lakes and ponds. Whether scouring the beach for shark’s teeth and seashells or teaching his grandchildren to swim Sal’s love for the water showed itself every day.
Nothing made Sal happier than a beautiful day spent laughing surrounded by family and a few dirty unforgiving martinis. Sal cared most for his 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren always wanted them to spread their wings and fly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sal and Suzanne Arello of KC, MO.; his nephew Ryan Kruse of Gladstone, MO. And his brother in-law Michael Bryant of Clearwater, FL.
Sal is survived by his wife, Shirley (Pasley); children, Paula (Arello) & Keith Sharples of Liberty, MO.; Laura Kesler (Arello) of KC, MO; Rachael (Arello) & Matt Burton of Gladstone, MO.; Sal Michael Arello of Liberty, MO. His brother Nick & Karen Arello of Gladstone, MO.; Sisters Linda Bryant of Clearwater, FL.; Diane (Arello) & Gregg Kruse of Gladstone, MO.; Rosemary (Arello) & Gary Sullivan of KC MO.
