Shirley Belle DePriest, 80, Kearney, MO passed away May 27, 2015 at her home. Shirley was born on July 2, 1934 to Henry and Ola Belle Holt. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kearney. Her family, gardening and traveling were her passions. Shirley held various positions in her lifetime, from SWB switchboard operator, working in duck factory, the school nurse and lunch lady, Vertex, Comfort Inn. She loved her “spending money”. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a sister and 2 children Michael Eugene and Christine Joyce. Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years E.W. DePriest (Gene) of the home; Children Dennis Eugene (Diana) DePriest of Liberty, MO, Willie Scott DePriest of Edgerton, MO, Linda K (Ben) Mefford of Weston, MO and Leann (Jacob) McDowell of Liberty, MO; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by 2 sisters, Betty Risley of KC, KS, Wanda Wilson of Pleasanton, KS and a brother Bill Holt of KC, KC.
Service 1:00pm Monday June 1, 2015 White Chapel Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00pm Monday. Interment East Slope Cemetery Riverside, MO. Memorials American Cancer Society.
