Shirley was born on September 10, 1936 in Archie, Missouri to Harry Jackson Shelton, Sr. and Bessie May (Herrell) Shelton.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard Shelton and Carl Shelton; and stepdaughter, Lorna Ann (Chris) Hall.
Survivors include her husband, James A. Kunkel; 3 sisters and 4 brothers, Vivian Holmes of Tuson, AZ, Dorthy (Jerry) Olmstead of Independence, MO, Harry Shelton of Drexel, MO, Jeanette (Rod) Martinette of Chattanooga TN, and Perry (Nancy) Shelton of Harrisonville, MO; daughters, Linda (Lonnie) Rockford and Carol Johnson; stepchildren, Joel (Michelle) Kunkel and Diana (Eric) Odgen; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
