
Theresa M. (Ernst) Alexander, 94, of Independence, Missouri, went to be with her heavenly Father on September 8, 2016, at Rosewood Health Center, The Groves, where she resided for the past eight years. Visitation will be Monday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 S M-291, Independence, Missouri 64057. Theresa was born August 14, 1922 in Muncie, Kansas. She loved sewing since she was a young girl, and God gave her a gift for that. She enjoyed sewing until almost six months ago. They called her the “potholder lady”. She loved to give them out as gifts (beautiful quilted ones). Her husband, Archie D. Alexander, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her four daughters; Judy Votipka, Joyce (George) Douglas, Janet (Ray) Cousins and Kay Brengarth, and one son, Ken (Phyllis) Alexander; grandchildren, Lisa (Larry) Hawkins, Jay (Sonja) Votipka, Tim Votipka (Amy Whitehead), Curtis (Tisha) Douglas, Scott (Eve) Douglas, Jennifer (Walmir) Rocha, Stephen (Kelly) Cousins, Kim (John) Radford, Jeff (Carrie) Brengarth and Natalie (Caleb) Ebel; 21 great grandchildren, Lindsay and Shelby Hawkins, Jordan, Madison, Mackenzie and Bailey Votipka, Allee and Haylee Votipka, David Douglas, Ian and Katie Douglas, Alex, Vic and Alana Rocha, Jackson Cousins, Jansynn and Alec Radford, Lily, Nick, and Josie Brengarth; four great-great grandchildren, Tabitha, Madison and Zepher Douglas and Charlie Weitz. Her family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood, Groves Community Hospice team and her pastor, Wendel Rosbrugh, of Bethel Baptist Church.
