He was born in Glastonbury, a son of Roderick and Nancy Bernier. James graduated from Howell Cheney Technical High School, where he achieved his electrical schooling. He then went onto completing his electrical apprenticeship, becoming a licensed electrician and successful electrical salesman.
He was an active member of the Glastonbury Elks Lodge 2202 and a member of IEC for some 10+ years sitting on various committees and becoming a board member. James enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader with his two sons and vacationing in upstate NY at Mooney's summer home.
He will be most remembered for his contagious laughter, smile and great personality. He has touched the hearts of his numerous friends and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife Nichole, he will be dearly missed by his sons Sam and Josh Bernier. James will also be dearly missed by his parents and his brother Rod Bernier and his wife Lynn, his sisters Dorothy Howell and her husband Charles, Theresa Shaw and her husband Jim and Lisa Monroe and her husband Gordon, his father-in-law Paul Dombrowski and mother-in-law Linda LaRoche, brother-in-law Jake Dombrowski, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Rodney Bernier.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James Bernier's memory can be made to the Sam and Josh Bernier scholarship fund.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, February 3, at 10:30a, in Green Cemetery, 99 Hubbard Street, Glastonbury.
