She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 28, 1949 to the late John and Hazel Baker.
She attended Catalina Elementary School and Alhambra High School in Phoenix, Arizona and spent her adult life in Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona.
She worked in various office management positions throughout her career, most notably her time at Manzanita Speedway. A place that many racing fans called home, including her two children, before it’s closure in 2009. Manzanita Speedway was a huge part of Barbara’s life, and led to her meeting countless amazing people that loved her and appreciated all that she did to keep it running smoothly for many years.
Barbara was always opening her doors to folks that needed help. Whether it be to keep a roof over their heads for some time, or to give them anything she could to keep them happy and healthy. She was generous to a fault.
Barbara’s beautiful, welcoming smile was contagious and all who knew her, loved her. She had an artistic eye that led her to spending countless hours creating the most intricate and gorgeous wreaths anyone has ever seen. She was always able to take a crafting idea from good to extraordinary.
Barbara is survived by her two children Bob (Sarah) Ream & Christine (Chad) Hollender, brother David (Debbie) Baker and her cherished grandchildren Cassidy & Cameron Meyer.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no services; however, your comments and stories celebrating Barbara’s life are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to add them to this posting.
