Betty Grace Friend

Betty (Da-Da) Grace Friend, 90, of Sun City, AZ, peacefully joined her husband (William Friend) in eternal life on July 21, 2014. She is survived by her two children David (wife Donna) and Linda, five grandchildren Michael, Kelly (Phillip), Destiny (Robert), Denise (Preston), and David. Also, nine great grandchildren Victoria, Tiffany, Kooper, Konner, Logan, Brennon, Emily, Cole, and Brooklyn.

Betty’s life began in Fort Smith, AK on December 22, 1923. She lived in Memphis, TN until she moved to Arizona with her family in 1960. She dedicated her life to family and she was the bond that kept us all together. She treasured her friendships as well. Moreover, Betty’s love for baseball ran a close second to family (DBacks,Cubs). She even waited until the bottom of the ninth inning of the DBacks game before taking her last breath.

Betty had many adventures in her life that she considered cherished milestones. One her grandkids enjoyed bragging about, was her time as a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. Also, she attended four family reunions in Tennessee and Georgia where she was able revisit her southern life that she loved. Another important moment was her 90th birthday party where Elvis serenaded her in front of family and friends.

Betty will be terribly missed but our beliefs ensure we will see her again. We love you so very much Da-Da.

Funeral Services will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, Monday, July 28, 2014. Visitation 10:00-11:00am with Memorial Service at 11:00am burial immediately following at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
