Carmen was a woman full of fire, fun, and fierce devotion. Born in California and raised in Tolleson, Arizona, she was the firstborn daughter of Catalina Silvas Padilla, and proudly helped raise her younger siblings as a guiding light in their lives. From a young age, Carmen embodied strength, style, and leadership earning her the role of matriarch long before she ever claimed the title.
Professionally, she was a sharp and sophisticated legal secretary for over 30 years in central Phoenix. But her proudest roles were those of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved deeply, led naturally, and made everyone around her feel seen, fed, and fiercely loved.
Carmen was a foodie at heart, known for her delicious meals and her belief that love was always the secret ingredient. She found joy in the simple and the bold: from gardening and flipping through magazines to playing tennis, racquetball, and curling up with a good book or a spooky series. She adored American Horror Story, The Handmaid's Tale, and The Walking Dead- anything with drama and edge, just like her.
A true diva, Carmen loved leopard print, funky sunglasses, glamorous touches, and everything feminine and fabulous. Her spirit was vibrant, her laughter infectious, and her presence unforgettable.
She is lovingly survived by her son Felipe Torres, daughter-in-law Doreen Torres, granddaughter Abigail Torres and her fiance Nick Adkins, great-grandson Zaiden Torres, and great-grandson Percy, along with a soon-to-arrive great-grandbaby whose presence was already deeply cherished. Though preceded in passing by her beloved grandson Zachary Torres, his memory remains a treasured part of her heart.
She is also remembered with immense love by her many sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, and extended family- each of whom carries her legacy of elegance, resilience, and joy.
Carmen's life was bold, beautiful, and bursting with love. She taught us how to lead with style, speak with strength, and love without condition. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
"Until we meet again, may we find her in every shared meal, every blooming garden, every bold print, and every heartfelt laugh."
