Catherine Sylvia Garrett

Catherine "Sylvia" Garrett, 73, of Phoenix, passed away on April 15, 2011. Sylvia was born on July 24,1937 in Steubenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lowell "Jake" Garrett.

During her life, Sylvia raised 4 children, spoiled 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and was involved in the lives many others while she acted as a committee member with the Boy Scouts, taught CCD classes, and, along with Jake, served as a board member for Saguaro Soccer Club and Pendergast West End Baseball.

Sylvia is survived by her father, Paul Briceland of Toronto, Ohio, her sons Mark, Michael (Angela), and Matthew (Mary Kay); daughter Michelle; sister Barbara, and brother Michael and sister-in-law Elaine. Her legacy and love will live on in the hearts of her friends and family, especially her grandchildren: Justin, Shannon, Jessica, Craig, Andrea, Andrew, Rebekah, and Thomas, and her great-grandchildren Daniel and Alizee.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary, 5830 W. Missouri Ave., Glendale, AZ where the Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 21, 2011.

Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Avondale, AZ.
