Charles “Charlie/Chuck” Francis Linville, age 88, passed away on August 22, 2022 at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born to E. Victor Linville and Ruby Robinson on April 2, 1934, in Cumberland, Maryland.
Charles is survived by son, Lyle Linville of Phoenix; grandaughters, Jennifer Linville and Ashley (Matt) Rines; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Mae, and Chase Rines; and brother David Linville of San Jose, California.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melva Z. Williams, and infant daughter Lydia.
Charles graduated from the Army and Navy Academy in Buckeye, AZ in 1954. He joined the United States Air Force in 1956 as a Nuclear Weapons Mechanical Specialist and retired in 1973.
After retirement, Charles worked a variety of security jobs. He loved to play the game of golf and enjoyed the company of his neighbors as they sat on the front porch drinking coffee and watching for airplanes.
A military Circle of Honor and service will be held on Tues., Oct. 11 at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery Visitor’s Center promptly at 11:45 a.m.
