Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there; I did not die.
Charles Allen Smock was born July 3, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona to Charles and Alice Smock. His siblings Mary Jo, Terry, Tommy, and Janice celebrated his arrival into the family. Chuck attended Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral School and Washington High School. At Washington Chuck made lifelong friends, wrestled, set the freshman bench press record, and served as Senior Class President, graduating in 1979.
In 1994, Chuck married the love of his life, Stacy Bennett. Chuck and Stacy welcomed a wonderful son, Christopher in 1996. Chuck received certification as a welder and was employed at Honeywell for 23 years, where he was very active with the Employee Club. Chuck’s humor and love of people will be greatly missed. At 54 years young, Chuck slipped from our midst into our Savior’s arms on January 2, 2016.
