A native Phoenician he was born on June 20, 1935 to the late Cornelio and Theresa Santa Cruz.
Corny served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Air Borne Division of the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was an engineer with the Phoenix Fire Department for over 21 years retiring in 1979. During retirement Corny ran a successful landscaping business as well as spending every moment possible with his grandchildren.
Corny is survived by his wife Patricia Razo-Santa Cruz, four sons Cornelio “Corney” III, Gilbert, Jason & Gregory, stepdaughter Rebecca Razo, four siblings Enedina Garcia, Jimmy, Carlos & Oscar and loving grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren Elisa, Joshua, Jacob, Gabriella & Roman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Anthony.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 9-10AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Funeral services will begin at 10AM. Burial with military honors will follow in Resthaven Park Cemetery.
