Donald V. Huard

Donald V. Huard passed away with family by his side on January 3, 2024. He was born on May 9, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late George and Viola Huard.

Don served with the United States Army, stationed in Alaska during the Korean War, as a crew-chief servicing and maintaining airplanes.

He earned his Doctorate in 1971 from the University of Arizona. Don taught at Phoenix College for 38 years, and this achievement earned him the title of Professor Emeritus.

He married Marie D. Fournier on June 13, 1959 and they had four children. Don and Marie shared 22 years of marriage prior to her passing on November 2, 1981. He later married Margaret E. Russell and they shared 40 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 17, 2022.

Don is survived by five children, Christopher Huard, Theresa (Gary) Bullock, twins David (Katie) Huard & Gregory Huard, and Keith (Laura) Rabenneck, two brothers, Richard (Margaret) Huard & Ken Huard, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren; about 50 at last count!

In addition to his parents and spouses, two daughters, Deby Taylor & Cindy Giles, and three siblings, George “Ray” Huard Jr., Shirley Sweeney & Mary Schmidt, preceded him in death.

Other accomplishments include the writing of many books, including autobiographies of his amazing life.

A private memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held.
