Dorothy W. Avery, 90, was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on November 2, 1925. She peacefully passed away at her home in her favorite chair in Phoenix, Arizona on June 13, 2016. Dottie, as she was affectionately called was married to Glenford Ray Avery on February 19, 1951 in San Diego, CA . Dottie was blessed with two daughters; Lori "Nickie" Farley and Glenda Hill and one son; Mark Avery, six grandchildren; Casey Palumbo, Cody Farley, John Benson, Matthew Avery, Angie Ford and Desaree Roessler. Dottie had a passion for her pets, loved geology, rocks, mountains, gardening, playing the organ, and cooking She was employed as a secretary working at both South Mountain High School and retired from South Mountain Community College.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale, AZ. Dottie will be laid to rest at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, CA.
