Dorothy Lee Butryn, age 99, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly a long-time resident of Zanesville, OH passed away at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Phoenix, AZ on November 23, 2019.
Dorothy was born on November 24, 1919 in Zanesville, OH. Dorothy grew up in New Concord and Zanesville OH.
Dorothy married the love of her life, Peter Eugene Butryn on October 5, 1940. The couple settled in Zanesville in the early 1940's, and later relocated to Columbus, OH where they raised their 4 children; Linda, Lois, Carol, and John. In 1976, Peter and Dorothy moved from Ohio to Phoenix, AZ.
Dorothy was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for many years as a hospital housekeeper at Phoenix General Hospital before retiring.
Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother. Dorothy loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her.
Dorothy was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Peter E. Butryn, devoted mother of Linda Polk, Lois Young, Carol Madrigal and John Butryn. She was a caring grandmother of Laura Hastings, Freddy Polk, Joe-Rene, MeLinda Polk, (Late Peter Polk, Dorothy Polk), Kim Kocher, Steve Kleinhenz, Mark Kleinhenz, Michelle Sprawls, Elizabeth Madrigal, JT Butryn, and Zach Butryn, also 9 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and sister Carol Duffy.
Family and friends will gather at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Ave Phoenix, 85015 on December 7th, 2019 at 10:00am for a funeral mass. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband Peter at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024.
