Hazel was an amazing friend and my best friend! She was the big sister, I never had.   

We would talk for hours about everything and anything!  Nothing was off limits.  We would call each other while washing dishes to pass the time away;  telling stories, laughing, solving the worlds problems or just talking about our day.  

Hazel LOVED her daughters!  When the girls were in dance classes, Hazel would make their recital outfits.  She was quite the seamstress and found sewing very relaxing.   It made her heart smile, when she would see the glee on girls faces, when the outfits were completed.  She baked cookies for class parties, volunteered at school for awhile.  Being Mama Bear, Protecting her young from the big bad world, was her mission.  

Hazel was also very dedicated to her husband Jim, whom she loved very much.   They worked hard at their marriage and didn’t take the commitment lightly.   It was important to them, to pass on strong family values to their children and grandchildren. 

Hazel and Jim, became Godparents to my sons, Tim and Nicholas.   Which instantly made them Aunt Hazel and Uncle Jim!  
During a dark time, in my life, Hazel and Jim opened their doors to me and my then 2 teenage sons.  Unconditional love ~ that’s what Hazel was made of.  Her guidance, counseling and just lending a ear, took a bad situation and made it a better one.  With her wisdom, I become a stronger, braver and happier person, to take the world on again.  She was my warrior, my confidant, my hero! 

My father always said, “if you ever meet that “one” special friend, within your lifetime, you are a lucky person”.   

Well, I am a very lucky person, to have had Hazel, in my life for close too 40 yrs. 

My you Rest In Peace my sweet friend ❤️ I love you dearly ~ Until we meet again.

Aunt Hazel,  had a Big Heart. I Loved her a Lot. In many ways l looked up to her.  As a teen growing  up, when I was having  tough day I could talk it out with Aunt Hazel.  She was like a second  mom in many ways. 
Aunt Hazel and Uncle Jim would come to Alpena and visit. Whenever she came she was always leaving a great impression on me and would reach out to love on me and my family.

Hazel and I were the only two girls in the family, we had to look out for each other. She was my little sister.  Our parents were poor, so we had to share the same bedroom and bed. We didn’t have a closet to hang our clothes, so we nailed nails into the wood on the wall in our bedroom, and hung our clothes on nails. Hazel was my best friend growing up, we were very close. 

I remember we always had a pretty good time together. We used to play with the chickens, and one time, Hazel must have made one of the Roosters mad, cause we were walking, and hazel turned around and started running fast, I didn’t have to wonder why for long, because the ole rooster jumped in her back and began flapping his wings, and pecking at her. It was funny looking, but Hazel wasn’t laughing?

After I got married to Alvin, Hazel came to visit me in Alpena, there was a guy that wanted to date Hazel there, but he wasn’t good enough for my little sister, so I told him NO, to leave her alone! I’m glad I did. A few years after that she met Jim,  the man of her dreams. What a great couple they were. 

I’m going to miss my sister, my childhood pal, my best friend.

My Sister Hazel,  I am going to miss her very much. I was told that  Hazel took care of me when I was just a baby brother. Time Goes by so fast in life and I will truly miss her a lot.I wished I could have got to spend more time with her,  but we lived so far apart it was hard to do. Hazel will always be in my heart! I love her and will miss her  always. Your little brother Mike 

Mrs Kearney made me feel like one of her own kids when I was around growing up. I loved her sweet smile.  I will always cherish the memories of the time I spent with you all.  My  thoughts and prayers are with you all.      

Aunt Hazel was so full of Pep, & Energy.  She had the sweetest smile.
If she liked you, you knew it! If she didn't like you, you knew that too.
She fell in love with her man Jim, and never questioned her role as his wife. True in sickness, and health. Life was not always easy, but she never wavered.  She was a very strong, and true person.
