Helen K Thatcher

passed away on February 11, 2013. Helen Kathleen Thatcher passed away on February 11, 2013 at the age of 98. She was born in Orange, Indiana on December 5, 1914. On August 27, 1934, she married Carl Theodore Thatcher. They moved to Arizona in 1952. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Carl for 76 years until his death in 2011. She is also preceded in death by her son, Joe, exactly 14 years to the day before her passing, and a grandson, Andrew Thatcher in 1973. She is survived by her son Dick (Nadine) Thatcher; daughter-in-law Kathryn Thatcher; grandchildren Jolene (Geoff) Humphreys, Craig (Dawn) Thatcher, and Debbie (Bob) Dahlstrom; step-grandchildren Patty Maines and Sharon Buick; great-grandchildren Kaleigh, Aaron, Garrett, and Jacob Humphreys, Amanda thatcher, and Alex and Ashleigh Dahlstrom; and step-great grandchildren Scott Maines and Shandine Tyler. She also leaves her "third" son Alex Nagtalon, and his son Bobby and family. Helen was known by many different names in her lifetime-Mom, Maude, Grandma, Grandma T and Gee Gee by those who loved her. After raising her family, she enjoyed working for the school system for 18 years as a "lunch lady". She was an avid bingo player and a world class french toast maker. There was'nt a crossword puzzle she couldn't complete, or a puzzle, regardless of the number of pieces, she couldn't tackle. The family will be forever grateful for her neighbors and caregivers who took such wonderful care of her and allowed her to remain in her home, living independently, for the last year of her life.Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at home with her Lord and was looking forward to being reunited with Pops and D. Joe. Visitation will be from 10-11am Monday, February 18, 2013 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale with funeral service to follow at 11am also at the funeral home.
