Jay passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 16th, surrounded by the love of his wife, daughter, and nephew. A life well-lived, Jay's journey was filled with experiences that many only dream of, and his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Jay leaves behind his beloved sisters, Joyce and Judy, and will be joyously reunited with his sister Jean at Heaven’s door, along with their cherished parents.
Called to serve his country in 1952, Jay joined the Navy and sailed on the USS Missouri. His travels took him to Japan and Vietnam, introducing a boy from Jackson, Michigan, to a world beyond his wildest imagination. These experiences shaped him into the remarkable man we all admired.
After his honorable service, Jay attended ASU, where he earned a degree in economics and finance. Throughout his life, he explored a multitude of careers, but none brought him more joy than the roles of husband and father. Jay was immensely proud of his financial achievements, always demonstrating a knack for wise spending. He often chose to forgo unnecessary luxuries, ensuring that he could be generous to his family, particularly his grandchildren, helping them start their lives with a solid foundation.
Jay is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Dorothy, and his three daughters, Wyndy Rochel and Lori.Jay is also survived by his sisters, Joyce and Judy, as well as his cherished nephews, niece, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Each of us carries a piece of his love and wisdom, and we will deeply miss his presence in our lives.
Rest in peace, Jay. Your legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire us every day.
Lori Houston
