Joan was a part of my family and memories for alot of my lifetime and I still consider her family .She was always loving and gracious and willing listen or give advice when asked . I remember many fun times in Dallas too many to list. My sincere condolences go out to Lisa and Scott for I know what It feels like to lose mom may God Bless you and give you peace.

Joanie and I met 15+ years ago but I feel like I have known her all my life.  There was an immediate attraction between us when we first met.  A few days later, we became inseparable.  It was amazing that within such a short time, we both knew we had to be together.  It was wonderful to meet your new soul mate.  We both never thought that could happen again.
We are both so different.  I was born into a farming family in New Mexico.  Joanie was a city girl from Connecticut by way of Texas.  I am an introvert; she was an extrovert. I am quiet and reserved; she was NOT as we all know.  In a social gathering I prefer to observe and listen; she was gregarious and loved to engage in conversation.  I was raised in the Christian faith; Joanie in the Jewish faith.
We could not have been more different, but we did not let that affect us.  Love and respect are what bound us together and made our differences seem trivial and unimportant.  We both took our wedding vows seriously.  We knew we were in it for the long haul.  We argued and disagreed many times as is true with most married couples.  We never doubted we would quickly “get over it” and move on with our lives.  Through it all, we always loved each other but we did not necessarily like each other.
Joanie and I did not travel extensively.  We preferred to travel by car when possible.  We found our personal paradise in Hanalei and Princeville on the island of Kauai.  We always looked forward to our extended stay on the island every year and seeing our dear friends that we first met in 2010.  Joanie’s favorite activity was walking the beach at Hanalei Bay.

Joanie loved our blended family intensively.  Scott and Lisa will forever be grateful for her never wavering love, as will Kate, Sam, and Blake.  Joanie looked forward to facetiming Stephanie and Sebastian weekly as well as talking with her brother Bob.  Joanie stayed in contact with her daughters Lynn and Krissy and with her cousins.  She shared in their joys and sorrows.  We had many enjoyable Tate family gatherings.  Joanie and I hosted a family Christmas eve dinner for many years.
I fondly called Joanie “The Card Lady”.  Her family and friends always received a card for their birthday.  Christmas cards, Jewish holiday cards, wedding cards, congratulation cards, retirement cards, sympathy cards; she sent them all.  She lent her personal touch to all occasions.  This is one of many things Joanie did as part of her endearing legacy.
Joanie’s sudden passing has been a shock to us all.  She was in pain for so many years due to her back issues, but it never stopped her from living life fully.  Taking care of her and lightening her load whenever and wherever possible was a privilege and honor I will always cherish.
Joanie and I made many great memories together.  She was my rock and gave me strength whenever I was in need.  She brought great joy to my life.  Joanie and I started each morning and ended each evening with a hug and a kiss.  That is what I will miss most.  I will always love you Joanie.

Joanie is my best step Nanna ever. She's so kind, loving, and carring from the families from your hubby's family and her family. She always sees us from every holiday we celebrated, especially Natalie's 2020 graduation. You had the perfect small dog named Moni, until today Moni was reborn to Maggie. By now your wings had spread and spend your eternal life back with Moni up in the sky. While Natalie's up in the sky during her second flight, she sees something, a white fluffy sidewalk looking cloud that resembles Heaven, and she sees Joanie holding Moni, waving her, telling her to enjoy her long weekend with her sister in Seattle, WA. By the time Natalie flies back home, Joanie will tell her an early happy 21st birthday and good luck on her amazing trip to Vegas, 'cause where ever she goes, Joanie will follow her in every step.

Even though our lives have taken very strange and different  paths, through our children we have always been connected. You have been thought of very often and will always be remembered as kindness personified and I smile up at you. Rest In Peace !!!

I thought of your mom a lot after we spoke to each other about a year and a half ago. I wish now that I had connected more often. We have a long and storied history especially when we both lived in Connecticut. I loved her friendship and remember the tears when she moved to Texas. She loved you both very much. Keep her in your heart forever. My prayers are with you both, Judy
