

On February 23, 2013 America lost another of her greatest generation. J. Howard Broderick passed from this mortal life to continue on his path to immortality & eternal life. John Howard was welcomed 23May1923, the 4th child of Hillard R. & Sarah Ruesch Broderick in Roosevelt, UT. At 10 his mother died, leaving 8 children. The Lord blessed him with a loving step-mother and more siblings. Howard was drafted to WWII Army K Co., 333 Infantry Battalion of the 34th Div. He had 6 mos. of combat in in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. and 1 year of occupation near Heidelberg. Upon returning home he attended USU, where he met Joyce Howlett & married on 5 Sept. 1947. After graduation he worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 15 years in Mt Pleasant and Springville UT. They moved to Phx, AZ & worked as a soil scientist for the Tonto National Forest Service. His core principles came from his faith in Jesus Christ. In 1993 Howard and Joyce served an 18 mo. mission in Nigeria Africa for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Besides serving in the church, his greatest joy was his family, outdoor adventures and gardening. He loved sharing his harvest. Father of 9 children: Julie Brown, Sarah Rowse, Dennis Broderick, Jane Unter, Amy Johnson, Rebecca Connell, Rachel Gardner, John Broderick and Verena Beckstrand, 53 grand kids, & 77 great grand kids. Funeral services, March 5, 10 am. LDS church @ 8710 N 3rd Av. Phx. Viewing, 5-7 pm March 4 @ same location. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
