With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, our family celebrates the life of John Joseph Vesely, who passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025 at the age of 88, surrounded by family and the comforting promise of eternal life.
John was born in Chicago, IL to Catherine (Demma) Vesely, originally from Italy, and John Vesely, born in what is now known as the Czech Republic. He was one of six children—preceded in death by his siblings Charlie, Sam, Angie, Nina, and Jim.
John attended Catholic school, serving proudly as an altar boy before moving with his family to Phoenix, AZ, around age 16. He attended Camelback High School where he met the love of his life, Rosalie “Rosie”, to whom he is now joyfully reunited with. Their story began as high-school sweethearts—two beautiful souls who married soon after graduation and built a lifetime of memories.
From ages 20-22 (1957-1959), John was humbled to join and serve in the Army, honoring his country. While stationed in Kansas for the military, John and Rosie’s 2nd child Cathy was born.
Their marriage was a true partnership. Together they raised eight children, living proof that “Eight was enough” long before the television show ever said so! Family and the pride of “being a Vesely” meant everything to John and Rosie, and their home was always filled with good food, warmth, hard work, and endless stories of adventures.
John is preceded in death by his son Carl, and survived by his children John, Catherine (Randy), James (Kelly), Teresa (Mark), Frank (Laura), RoseAnn (Doug) and Lori, as well as his 40 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will carry forward his legacy of faith, family, and perseverance.
In the early years, John worked as an assistant manager at a grocery store before beginning what he often called his “dream job” with UPS. He loved the open road and his Arizona routes, a love he never lost, even in his later years. Together with his wife, they also built several family businesses, often with their children by their side. From pool clean-up and construction to jewelry and restaurants, John’s entrepreneurial spirit and Rosie’s creativity made them a dynamic team. Their ventures created lasting memories—and lifelong lessons about determination, family unity, and the joy of working together.
John was known as a great bowler, a clever problem-solver, and, as many would say, “a jack of all trades and master of none.” But to those who truly knew him, he was so much more: a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and man of faith.
He lived with humor, humility, and heart. His greatest joy was time spent with family. John’s love was steady and strong, the kind that made everyone near him feel valued, seen, and safe. His presence brought peace and his affection left a lifelong mark on every heart he touched. John’s life was a reflection of his faith in God and his unwavering love for his family. He now rests in the eternal embrace of his beloved Rosie and their son Carl, leaving behind generations who will carry the torch forward with the Vesely legacy.
Though our hearts ache with his absence, we rejoice in the assurance that he is home, in the light of heaven.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
