

Julie Kaye Hnat (nee Hooker), aged 64, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2024, with her husband at her side. She had bravely and without complaint fought cancer for 4 years. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Scott; daughter, Taryn; son, Shayne; granddaughter, Verity; grandson, Ollie; brothers, Dale and Lane Jr.; and sister, Laurie. Her passing was preceded by her mother, Nancy; father, Lane Sr.; and father-in-law, Russ. Julie was known above all else as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She exemplified an independent spirit, positive attitude, and dedication to family.
Julie was born on May 21, 1960 in Syracuse, New York. She spent her formative years attending various primary schools before graduating from Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1978. She furthered her education by attending cosmetology school and followed that up later with a trip to New York to study hair coloring at Clairol professional school, which paved the way for her long and fulfilling career as a hairdresser in various salons. Julie also utilized her meticulous nature and organizational skills, as a bookkeeper for a clothing print shop and a statue forging shop.
Julie's hobbies included camping, four-wheeling, rock hounding, searching the outdoors for relics, growing and caring for a plethora of plants, and cherishing moments with her family and pets, which brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for gatherings of family and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Julie's life will be held at Paloma Park in Peoria, Arizona on January 11, 2025, at 12 noon. Her life was marked by her love, hard work, and the deep bonds she formed with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
