Kim Alecia Bright-Potts was born to Joseph Williams, Jr., and Carolyn (Thurman) Williams on July 26, 1965, in East St Louis, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Williams, Jr. and her sister, Andrea Riley.
As a youth Kim attended public schools in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was part of the National Youth Sports Program from 1978-1980 at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois. The family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in September 1980, where Kim attended Trevor G. Brown High School and was part of the marching band where she learned to play clarinet, flute and saxophone. Later she began her own jazz band. In May 1982, she graduated high school. Kim continued her education at Apollo College and graduated with an Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant.
Kim met and married Harlem Wesley Smith in 1985. Although the marriage ended after eleven years, to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Kyra B. Smith and Korryn D. Smith, who they loved dearly. On July 28, 2004, Kim married David Bright and they remained married for eleven years. Kim later met and married Ray Potts in April 2018.
Kim was a hard worker and seldom took vacations. She enjoyed helping people. She worked for Phoenix Baptist Hospital for more than thirteen years as a Pain Management Manager and later in Podiatry. Kim was a compassionate and truly an affectionate person. She would sometimes beat her Mom in running to the rescue of someone in need. Kim enjoyed loving on her family and she was truly a daddy's girl. Just like her father Kim was a great cook and adored cooking for her family.
On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Thunderbird Banner Hospital, Kim departed this life. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, husband Ray Potts; two daughters Kyra B. Smith and Korryn D. Smith; loving mother Carolyn Williams; one brother Bryan Williams (wife Tara); two beautiful granddaughters and a host of Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
