

at the age of 85. Leonard is survived by his wife, Donna Bice (nee Leavitt); his children, Allen, Duane, Beverly Kelly, and Barbara; his eight grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren. His sister Vesta Roper (née Bice) and many dear friends. Leonard was born in Glendale on February 14, 1932 to Vernon Bice and Ruth Scott. He began his years of serving others by achieving his Eagle Scout in May of 1949. He graduated from Glendale Union High School in 1950. He served in the army during the Korean War and in 1960, he joined the Phoenix Fire Department where he serviced for 20 years. Leonard received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University in December of 1982. He spent his final career
as a non-licensed nuclear operator at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Plant. As a life-long resident of Arizona, Leonard spent many hours taking his family camping, hiking and mountain climbing throughout the State. He enjoyed getting away from the city and photographing the natural wonders throughout Arizona. After retiring from the Fire Department, he continued to help others by donating 10 gallons of blood and assisting a variety of events as a member of the Arizona Repeater’s Association. Memorial services are scheduled at Leonard’s life-long church, the Glendale First United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00pm.
