

Lloyd Dee Powell passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was a native to Arizona and a longtime resident of Glendale. Lloyd is survived by his wife Diane (DeeDee) Powell, his sons Elias (wife Menna) and Lloyd; his 2 grandchildren Antaius and Octavius; Sister Janie Clarke and Brother Loren Powell; many nieces and nephews. Lloyd enlisted in the US Army 1970 to 1972 he was a Vietnam Veteran; worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local 428 for 12 yrs; then retired after 22 yrs with the City of Phoenix. He was known to always have a smile on his face which invited friendly conversations. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle as well as a good and loyal friend to many. His greatest love was his family and friends. Lloyd got a charge out of attending the many local sports events. He cherished the volunteer work he did for the Arizona StandDown and was known to be their biggest fan. He learned to embrace life’s journeys and gave us many enjoyable memories that we will remember in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held Monday, January 12 from 9:30 am to 11:00 pm and services at 11:00 am -12;30 at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ, with interment immediately after at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 North Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, Reception will follow, 3:30-5:30, at the Glendale VFW, 7618 N 63rd Ave., Glendale.
