

Lora Jeanne Wheeler passed away on January 21, 2017, in Glendale. She was born June 28, 1923 to the late Jesse K. and Mary (Miller) Wheeler, in Rockland, Idaho. She was big sister to Mary Beth Benson, Dr. Jesse Jr., Don M., Margaret W. Garff, and Richard E. Her father was the founder of Wheeler Machinery Co., and Wyoming Machinery Co., Caterpillar dealerships. Lora Jeanne graduated from the University of Utah in 1944 with a degree in English and Speech. This was followed, in 1945, with a Masters Degree in Library Science from Columbia University. This defined her future professional life as a librarian at the University of Utah, and ultimately as Head Librarian, for Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management, Phoenix. If graduate degrees were awarded for ballroom dancing she would have received her PhD from the Arthur Murray Studios where she danced and competed for over forty years. Lora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a Family History Missionary in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1992-93. Friendships were especially treasured and she was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her special interests and talents included dancing, reading, painting and collecting dolls. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan.28, 2017, 10:00am (viewing at 9:00am) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glen Lakes Building, 8840 N. 61st Avenue, Glendale, Arizona with Bishop Alan Persons officiating.
