

Mary Ann Funderburk Greene, 86, went to her heavenly home on June 10, 2016 after a year and a half battle with cancer. The service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301. The family requests bright, colorful attire for the celebration of life service.
Mary Ann was born January 30, 1930 in El Dorado, AR to the late Issac Appleton Funderburk and Eunice Key Funderburk. She attended Jonesboro Hodge High School. Mary Ann went to Louisiana College and later went on to Louisiana Tech where she graduated; majoring in Home Economics and minoring in Art. Mary Ann moved to Belcher, LA for a teaching position. She soon joined Belcher Baptist Church where she met and married Alonzo Randolph Greene. Mary Ann enjoyed singing in the choir.
She always had an artistic side which came out in many ways. From a very young age Mary Ann started sewing with doll clothes to clothes for her girls to alterations and commissioned pieces; making clothes for girls who had lost their homes to fires which she donated through Salvation Army up until December 2015. Later in life Mary Ann was able to pursue her love for art when she began drawing and watercolor classes, one class allowed her to take a watercolor trip to Italy. She continued to draw and paint for years, some for pleasure and others for commissioned work.
When Mary Ann moved to Phoenix in 1998 to be closer to her sister and other family members she joined the North Phoenix Baptist Church. Mary Ann continued to take art classes; and taught sewing classes for a time. She loved being around family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Alonzo Randolph Greene, and her sister & brother-in-law Robertine “Bobbie” & Ray Langdon.
She is survived by her brother Ike Funderburk of Abbeville, LA, her daughters Sarah Greene (Keith Bresee) of Phoenix, AZ, Paula Greene-Hotman & husband Tryce Hotman of Austin, TX, Ginger Mathis of Prairie Grove, AR and Sandra Ralston (Bob Woodward) of Phoenix, AZ. Mary Ann is also survived by nieces & nephews and great & great great nieces & nephews and other relatives & friends.
Per Mary Ann Greene’s request in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, Belcher Baptist Church, North Phoenix Baptist Church or Banner Hospice.
