Mary Julia (Roach) McGee, 84, of Waddell, AZ passed away on September 29, 2022, in Sun City West, AZ. She was born on June 4, 1938, to the late Dick B. Roach, and Ione Wessinger Roach, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
She attended the University of Michigan obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy graduating class of 1960. She then furthered her education at the University of Arizona obtaining her Medical Degree graduating class of 1973. Dr. Mary McGee and Dr. Stephen West started Cactus Children’s Clinic on August 1, 1977. The practice grew and a nurse practitioner, Barbara Piano and several other doctors joined shortly thereafter.
On April 24, 1992, she married William Ellis McGee, Jr. in Phoenix, AZ. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Parish in Surprise, AZ.
Mary has the most amazing smile and loved to welcome visitors to her “ranch” in Waddell. She loved life, laughter, children, and animals of every kind. Her loving hugs will be missed by many as Mary had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community of Waddell and the parish of St. Clare of Assisi.
Mary is survived by her sister Dixie Reynolds (Michael), her brothers, Michael Roach, Thomas Roach, and Daniel Roach (Freda), stepdaughter Diane Williams, nieces Gretchen I. Dumas – Hebets (Scott) Heather L. Fish, Kelly Moreno, Kristin Sillman (Steve), Molly Ananda Rickerson (Philip), Amy MayBee (John), nephews Gregory J. Fish (Karen), Justin Reynolds (Charity), Kevin Sanderson, and Eric Roach (Anthea), special friends, Rita Cleveland, Jeannie DiGirolamo, Resa Rodney, Maria Blackshear (Noble), as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellis McGee, sisters, Nancy I. Fish (Willard) and Ann Sanderson, stepson, Mickey McGee, nephew, Garrett Roach and granddaughter, Willow Elyse Williams.
A funeral mass for Mary will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Parish, 17111 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 85374 with Father Thaddeus McGuire officiating. An interment of her ashes at Holy Cross cemetery, 9925 W Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392 will follow and all who wish to join are welcome.
