Michael Carey McCoy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Carey McCoy, age 60, of Glendale, Arizona on September 20, 2021. Michael was born on November 25, 1960 in Martinez, California to parents Leata Verla Lance and Ralph Joe McCoy. Michael grew up in Pittsburg, CA and graduated from Pittsburg High School. At the age of 17 Michael moved to Arizona and never looked back.

Michael aka Happy would always greet everyone with a big beautiful smile. Michael loved the Oakland Raiders Football Team, Traveling and he loved spending time with his family and friends, which he did often. Michael was a Loving Father who never missed an opportunity to dance, especially in Laughlin at The Losers Louge, and he worked out daily with his wife Malia and his beloved dog and best friend Kuko. For many years he worked for Glendale Community College.

Michael is survived by his wife Malia Tina McCoy, children Diana Martinez, Erica McCoy, Michelle McCoy Benthin, Antoinette Tippen , Danny Weber, mother, Leata Wash, siblings Simona Milton, Elina Webb, Sheri McCoy Moore, Yvette Jackson, Robert Rayford, Andre McCoy, Cassandra McCoy, Kevin McCoy, Greg McCoy, Wanda McCoy, Allison McCoy, and 10 Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Archie “Boss” McCoy & Florence Madlock-McCoy and Lawrence Alfred Lance & Mayme “Mae” Elina (Forsy Lance) Bontty, and his father Ralph Joe McCoy.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing being held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 5-9 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ. Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, October 4, 2021 also at West Resthaven. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
