OBITUARY

Noreen Estfan

22 November, 19368 October, 2020

Noreen (Salem) Estfan left her earthly existence on October 8, 2020 to be with her Heavenly Father and join her husband of 62 years, Wally, and her daughter Stephanie who preceded her. A loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children David (Julie), Lisa, Michael (Margot), Stacie (Robert), Patrick (Sally), Julie (Ron), Jennifer & Robert (Joann), as well as her 26 grandchildren, 11-1/2 great grandchildren, brothers Albert & Robert (Jan) Salem, sisters-in-law Beverly Mallek & Marlene Basila and brother-in-law Edmund (Jean) Estfan.

She had a great love of life, family and faith. She was a positive, optimistic woman, who always saw the good in her children and everyone she came in contact with. She worked hard raising her nine children, ensuring they had all they needed to succeed in this world, not only worldly but spiritually as well. She was the greatest mother ever!

Noreen, with her great love of God and faith could always be found around her church, whether volunteering for an event, working at the rectory, or making a meal or baked goods for the priests and nuns of the parish; it truly was her passion and gift.

Noreen loved sharing her Lebanese heritage, whether it was baking bread, fatias or kibee with her daughters or putting out a spread of munchies. She could always be found in the kitchen making sure everyone was satisfied and no one left hungry. She passed on the culture and recipes to her children who will honor her by passing them on to their children.

The Good Lord is definitely in luck because not only will he have her strength and love with Him in Heaven, and He will be able to enjoy some of the best Lebanese food ever. Her spirit will live on with all of us as we carry on her legacy of love and faith.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 5pm-8pm with a rosary at 7PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 10am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 16245 N. 60th Street, Scottsdale, AZ. When Noreen worked in the parish office at SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral, I had the privilege of working with her. She was a delight to be around because she was always kind and had a smile for everyone. She also had a great sense of humor, and I never heard her speak an unkind word to or about anyone. She was a role model for all of us. God bless her and grant her grace and peace in His loving arms.

Lisa, I remember going over to your house after high school and your mom sitting at the kitchen table surrounded by children with conversations going on everywhere. Your mom, with her sweet smile, gentle laugh and loving nature, always listened to everyone. I remember asking you, “how does she do it?” And you, with your sweet smile and gentle laugh said, “it just comes naturally”. You have a beautiful family that will carry on your mom’s and dad’s legacy.
With lots of love and prayers for the entire family,
Colette

I am mournful for all of the Estfan family. Noreen was one of my idols. She was an example of what a Mom should be. She inspired me to learn more of the Lebanese culture and cooking. My children were lucky to be recipients of her kindness. I am praying for all of you. Maureen was a saint on earth and now one in heaven.
In love and prayers, Jo Ann Salem

Noreen, you were always like a Mom to me. I loved sitting around the table on a Friday night laughing and telling stories. You loved life to the fullest, and your ability to show love to everyone was overwhelming! Your family is so beautiful, and now they will continue to mirror everything you and Wally taught them over the years. May God bless you sweet lady. I know Wally and Stef greeted you with open arms and a large carafe of white wine! I Love you, Noreen

We have known this family for 15+ years and have observed the love and loyalty that she and Wally ingrained in their family. The family has honored their traditions and taken care of all of Wally and Noreen's needs throughout their years of declining health. They circle the wagons to get it done. Their faith has been 1st and foremost and I know Wally and Noreen made a huge difference in this world by all that they demonstrated in living their lives. They are both missed very much, but the memories that they have created will keep the family strong. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Noreen leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She opened her home to my family and I, and she made us feel like part of the family. Her smile is infectious, and even the few times I was in her presence I felt loved and so welcome.
