It's been about 4 years and I still think about you, Richard. I thought about you today when a friend prayed for me. It reminded me of the times we would take walks and you would pray for me and for other people. You called yourself a "prayer warrior." Every time during those walks and we talked about our friendship, I would remind you that I was there because I wanted to be and someday, we would walk together again in heaven. I miss you.

When I really needed money, I became a caregiver for Richard. I didn’t want to be a caregiver because I didn’t think I would be good at it and I didn’t know if I could even do it. I was 24 and Richard was 77. It may have been a large age gap but he became one of my best friends. His life hadn’t been easy but he had so much faith that carried him. I think about him all the time and I miss him every day. I will always carry Richard with me and remember the great memories we had together. I love you Richard. Your friend, Sierra. 

I was Richard’s caregiver for a short time and he had the kindest heart out of anyone I’ve ever met. His faith in the Lord carried him and he helped me look at the world differently. I’ll never forget Richard. He didn’t laugh much, but he thought my jokes were funny. He loved hotdogs, afternoon walks, making and achieving goals the best that he could. Richard will always and forever have a special place in my heart. Someday, I’ll take a walk with him again in the streets of gold. 

I had the opportunity to work with Richard in Peoria for WGM at SIMC.  He was a kind and gentle soul, with the heart of a servant. His humility and warmth was evident to me from the first moment I met him. I remember the joy on his face when we would get food boxes ready in the little ice house there, where the food pantry was.  My condolences to the Pavlik family. He was a good man.
