

Roberta Ann McDyer Henneman, 90, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Ashland, KY, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Phoenix. She was accompanied in her last days by members of her family, friends, and her dedicated caregivers. She is the daughter of the late John Cecil McDyer and Mary Roberta Ryan. She graduated with a nursing degree from St. Mary’s Medical Center School of Nursing, Huntington, West Virginia in 1944. She was engaged in private duty nursing in Kentucky, Ohio, and Arizona prior to entry into military service. She served as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII (1945-1946), at Hammond General U. S. Army Hospital in Modesto, CA. Her past Roman Catholic parish memberships in Phoenix, include St. Jerome, St. Gregory, St. Mary’s, and Holy Family Church, Ashland, KY. She is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas McDyer, granddaughter, Michele Renee, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph Lawrence, who worked for the State of Arizona DES Unemployment Insurance Division for twenty-seven years, and ten years for the U.S. Department of Labor, Unemployment Insurance, Associate Regional Administrator, Washington, DC, until their retirement in San Francisco, CA in 1986. Survivors include her children Mary, Kathryn, Donna, Mark, Patricia, Matt, two granddaughters, Christina (Mike) and April (Jeff), and son-in-law, Ray (Patricia). Visitation and burial were held privately at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale, AZ and Holy Cross Cemetery, Avondale, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at The Beatitudes Campus’ Life Center, 1610 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Beatitudes Campus Foundation, 1610 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021 and Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
