Roman was a Junior at Shadow Ridge High School. He was incredibly smart and witty. He loved music, notably Kendrick Lamar and J Cole were two of his favorite artists. He enjoyed playing video games, especially Fallout. Roman had a vast knowledge of strange but true fun facts and delighted in stumping family and friends with them. Roman also enjoyed working out and could often be found doing push-ups or sit-ups during commercial breaks or while he waited for his games to load.
He leaves behind an extended family that loved him beyond measure. He is survived by his mom, Jesica Butcher, stepdad, Greg Butcher, five brothers: Christopher Nicholson, Hayden Nicholson, Israel Nicholson, Solomon Nicholson, and Elijah Butcher. Roman is also survived by great-grandmother: Lee Etta “Grammie” Bostic Smith, grandparents: Kathy Ruffin, Darryl Robertson, Gloria Nicholson, and Michelle Dillon, aunts and uncles: Ronald and Esther “G-Mommy” Nicholson, John and Margaret Ruffin, Nicole Early, Jamie Ruffin, and Jackie Ruffin, cousins: Jordan Nicholson, Amaya Wheeler, Nigel Ruffin, Isabel Nicholson, Marley Ruffin, and Andi Ruffin; and a host of other family and friends.
Roman was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Ronald “Papa Nick” Nicholson and John “Papa Ruff” Ruffin. We know that Roman is being loved on and watched over by his Papas and while that brings comfort to the family in no way does it fill the pain and brokenness created by Roman’s loss.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service, celebrating Romans’ life, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 9:00 am. The service will be held at Roman’s home church, Palm Valley Church (Goodyear Campus), at 431 N Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338.
