

Ron was the oldest of 7 children born to JC and Virginia Durham. Ron attended West High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Wanda Lavon Thompson in July 1956. During 1957-1959 Ron competed in Germany as a member of the Armed Forces Track Squad, excelling in the Pole Vault and High Jump.
Upon his honorable discharge from service, he returned to Arizona. Ron attended night school to further his education and was then hired in 1961 as an apprentice at Arizona Public Service. In time he became a Journeyman Electrician and Outage Specialist at APS, retiring after 35+ years. Ron & Wanda lived in the same home on Highland Avenue for 43 years, while raising their 5 children. Ron loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served in many leadership capacities while inspiring others to also serve.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Jasper Charles and Virginia, his son Ronald Charles, and his siblings Randy, Robert, and Ruby Joyce.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda, and their children Timothy (Debra), Sandra (Pablo), James (Sherry), and Scott (M’ Liss). Ron is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
