Rosemarie “Rosi” Elfriede Peters Miercke, a 69 year resident of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. She has completed her life here on earth, and has been called home by our Heavenly Father.
Rosi was born July 24, 1930 in the outskirts of the small town of Buettel, Germany near the North Sea. Rosi’s parents are Jacob Heinrich Peters and Friedrike Catharina Heimbockel. She was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers Friedrich and Ehrhard, only sister Ruth and son Michael. Rosi was married in 1951 to her beloved husband, Ernst Ludwig Miercke of Stettin, Germany (now Poland) who passed away in 2014. She is survived by her son Larry of Walnut Creek, CA, and two daughters Sharon and Carol of Phoenix, AZ. She was a loving and doting grandmother to her wonderful five grand children (Keri, Brian, Jenna, Tony and Shannon), ten great grandchildren (Mallory, Abby, Andrew, Lily, Piper, Conner, Ellie, Maddy, Abigail and Leila), and one great great grandchild (Lyla).
Before immigrating to the United States in 1952 from Germany, Rosi pursued an education and career in accounting and tax consultation (professions she continued throughout her life). She moved from Idaho to Arizona in 1954, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1958.
Rosi was an amazing women who had relentless energy. She was positive, kind, dependable, persistent, organized, trustworthy and adventurous. Rosi loved family, friends, music, recreation, nature, reading, work, traveling, and wholesome entertainment. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking and baking (her rouladen and almond bread were the best). She was an avid outdoors person who loved to camp, bicycle, walk, run, hike and backpack. Rosi was born into the Mormon Church, and continued to be a devout and active member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout her life. It was the foundation and crux of her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the LDS Church, 8602 N.31st Ave Glendale, Az ; visitation will begin at 10am and services at 11am; burial follows at Resthaven Park Cemetery 6450 W. Northern Ave Glendale, Arizona located at Northern and 64th Ave, northeast side.
