Sokey graduated from Glendale High School in 1962, and worked for the same distribution company for forty years. She was a member of multiple bowling leagues, enjoyed reading, sports, attending her niece’s and nephew’s school and sporting events, and most of all doing crossword puzzles. Sokey had a passion for Mariachi music and attended the National Mariachi Conference in Tucson annually with her family. She was a devoted Catholic. She was a Catechist and taught Catechism to prepare the youth for their Holy Sacrament of Communion at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in both English and Spanish.
In addition to her parents, Sokey is preceded in death by her siblings, Jose Valles, Dolores “Lola” Apodaca, Sarah Garcia, Ramon “Monchi” Valles, and Jessica “Chuchi” Cervantez.
She is survived by her siblings, Frank “Vico” Valles, Rita Toscano, and Lupe Arce. Sokey was also a loving Tia to many nieces and nephews, a Nina to multiple God children, and a wonderful friend to all that knew her.
She was loving, friendly, hardworking, honest, and always willing to help anyone in need. Sokey’s love for her family and friends will leave a lasting imprint on the hearts of all that knew her, and loved her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with a Rosary beginning at 7:00PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home 6450 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale. A mass will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Louis the King Catholic Church at 10:00AM at 4331 W. Maryland Avenue in Glendale. Sokey will be laid to rest following services at Resthaven Park Cemetery also in Glendale.
