Raised in Ottawa, Illinois, he was born on December 18, 1933 in Spring Valley, Illinois to the late Leonard and Louise Lock.
Vernon married Jo Ellyn Bidner on August 2, 1959; they shared 60 years of marriage prior to her passing on August 13, 20219.
He taught wood shop in the Glendale Elementary School District in Glendale, Arizona for over 30 years retiring in 1990.
Vernon is survived by his daughter Julie O’Dell, sister Norma Willy, grandchildren Erin & Jacob O’Dell, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
In addition to his wife and parents, his son Eric preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 5-7PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 9AM at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
