Ygnacio M. Vasquez Jr. (Nacho), age 90 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley’s Ryan’s House. He was born December 20, 1933, in Glendale, Arizona to the late Ygnacio and Luz Vasquez.
He is survived by his wife of 65 beautiful years, Socorro, his daughters Thelma Romero Vasquez, Vivian (David) Escobar, Yolanda Sanchez, and Sylvia Morales, grandchildren Athena, Brittany, Nathaniel, David, Gabriel, AnnaLisa, Maritza, Emilio, and Ariana, great-grandchildren Elyana, Ezekiel, Isabel, Gary III, Xavier, Aviana, Mateo, Niko, and Selah. He is preceded in death by his brother Eduardo, and his sons-in-law David Morales and Ernest Sanchez.
Nacho proudly served in the U.S. Army and Reserves. He was stationed in Alaska and often reminded us how cold it was compared to Arizona! He made working at Firestone a lifelong career. He had a great joy for life, his passions consisted of mariachi, plants, and flowers (especially at Picacho Peak), reading the morning newspaper with his coffee and cochitos, camping at Oak Creek Canyon, telling his lifelong stories, talking to everyone he encountered, trucks, planes at Luke Air Force Base, making people smile, and family celebrations.
You will be greatly missed, Dad!
A visitation will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home of Glendale, Arizona on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 PM.
