

Helen was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the parents of Andrew and Frances Kubancik. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mona Voloshen and Mary Ellen Boytim, and two brothers, Leonard Kubancik and Steve Kubancik. Helen was married to Luther Davis from 1942 till 1973. She married John Ouellet in March of 1974.Helen moved from Ohio in 1947 to Glendale, California where she resided until her passing. Helen and Luther had 3 daughters. Monica (Joe) Wilke of Glendale, Francine Buffkin (preceded) of Las Vegas and Cheryl (Bill) Carlson of Santa Clarita and step-son Philip Ouellet of Japan. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Monica Lynn (Stephen) Lewis, Joe (Lisa) Wilke. Lesley (Anthony) Camaioni, Michelle(Kevin) Loo, Lori (Jonathan) Helms, Jennifer (Kenneth) Hayes, and Leo (Amanda) Gonzalez and great grandchildren: Samantha, Victoria, Joshua, Christopher (preceded), Connor, Jaimie, Will, Daniel, Dylan, Gavin, Kenneth (preceded) Nichole and Austin. Helen was the only girl in the John Hay High School band in Cleveland, Ohio and was very proud of that fact. She studied Music at the Hruby Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio where she was 1st chair clarinet. During the war, Helen was the first woman in Cleveland to study to become a Welder. She was a very active member of the community. Helen was in the College of Regents of Moose Glendale Lodge, Secretary of NARFE and then President of NARFE Chapter 059 Glendale/Burbank Chapter. Helen enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Robert Bellarmine for 25 years where she also worked the Church Festival selling raffle tickets and then helping run the Pastrami and Strawberry Shortcake Booth for 15 years. Helen ran a tight ship in that booth, everyone got their fair share. Helen worked at the Glendale Post Office for 25 years. Prior to that she was Head of Housekeeping at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Helen and her husband Luther also owned a coffee shop in Glendale for 8 years. Her seven varieties of homemade pies sold out everyday. Helen made the best Lemon Meringue Pie in California. Helen loved a good martini double olives on the side.
