John Joseph Deitchel

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am March 7, 2015 at Olinger-Woods Chapel, 1100 Washington, Golden.

John was born in Park City, Utah, on February 8, 1925. He graduated from Idaho Springs High School and served 4 years in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater. John was married to Jean (Gorden) Deitchel on February 8, 1948; they celebrated 67 years of marriage and his 90th birthday two weeks prior to his death. John worked for many years at Berthoud Pass Ski area, commuting over 100 miles each day from his home in Golden.

John is survived by his wife and three of his four children, Judi Deitchel, Joe Deitchel and his wife Debra, Jamie Deitchel and his wife, Sharon. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cameron Lindberg, Ashlie Christensen and her husband, Brendan, Jessica Terrell and her husband, Jerimiah, Jessica Nowlan, Tyler, Eric, Adam, Hannah, and Rebekah Deitchel; and two great-grandchildren Ethan and Ella Terrell.

He was predeceased by his beloved son, Jeffrey Deitchel, his parents and four sisters.

He loved the outdoors and passed his love of fishing to his children and grandchildren. We believe he and Jeff are fishing together right now.
