Marcella Sally Marie Joerger Bender

in Tucson, AZ where she lived the past three years.

Sally was born in Madison County near St. Bernard NE on April 21, 1923 to Joseph and Mary (Geilenkirchen) Joerger.

She married Leo (Bud) Bender on January 11, 1944 in Mendota, IL. Bud, Sally and family lived near Okabena, Heron Lake and Brooten, MN until 1960 when they moved to Arvada, CO.

Sally lived her life as a Christian lady who was devoted to her husband, family and friends. She loved to cook, bake, entertain friends and family with her delicious meals. She also enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, making jam, and playing cards. She was an active member of St. Anne's and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Communities, the Altar and Rosary Society, Seniors Group and The Blue Army.

Mrs.Bender is survived by her seven children: Joyce (Dave) Tulloss of Tucson AZ, Jo Ann (D.E.) Rogers, Chandler AZ, Darlene (Dan--Deceased) Ballinger, Arvada CO, Margie (Joe) Kanizsai Tucson AZ, Richard (Terri) Bender Arvada CO, Mary (John) Reese Colorado Springs CO and David (Susan) Bender Federal Heights CO, 2 sisters; Evelyn Hemmer Humphrey NE and Margie Hilliard Hooper NE, 2 brothers, Eugene (Gen) Joerger Vining MN and Donald (Mary) Joerger Twin Falls ID, 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, of 62 yrs, 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The viewing will be at 6PM and Rosary at 7PM on Thursday, Sept 1, 2011. Mass to celebrate Sally's life will be at 11AM, Friday Sept 2, 2011 all at St. Joan of Arc 12735 W. 58th Ave Arvada CO. Internment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Woods Chapel, Golden, CO.
