
A lifelong resident of Carville, he passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at the age of 74. He was a retired repairman from Gillis Long Hansens Disease Center in Carville and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a member of the St. Gabriel Knights of Columbus. He is survived by sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony Jr. and Sylvia Sanchez, Robert Sanchez and Steven Sanchez; grandchildren, Courtney, Anthony J. and Jason Sanchez; sisters, Frances Piper and Ann Parker; brother, Victor Sanchez; and devoted niece, Mary Helen Willis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ourso Sanchez; parents, Ernest L. and Elma Gregoire Sanchez; five brothers and four sisters. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, on Monday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev.
