A native of Gonzales and resident of Prairieville, he died on Oct. 20, 2011. He was 56 years old and felt his time was best spent with his grandchildren, aka “the munchkins,” on the river fishing, and watching the tigers and the “who dats” with his family. He also enjoyed drawing, and those who knew him agreed he was a very talented artist. He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Stafford and husband Kyle; two sons, Chris Califf and wife Sandi, and Nathan Califf and fiancé Laura Gatlin; two brothers, Michael and Donald Califf; four grandchildren, Bailey Stafford, Riley Califf, Chelsea Gautreaux, and Taylor Beeman; his ex-wife and good friend, Nancy LeBourgeois and her son, Alex Rose; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Charlotte Kusch Loden and Jim Loden, and his father, Emory Califf. A memorial gathering will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Sat., Oct. 22, 2011 from 9am until 2pm. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the family and friends who visited during his hard times and the caring staff at The Carpenter House and St. Elizabeth Hospital.
