

Cody Aaron Sylvest, 34, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on June 4, 1991, in Hammond, LA. Cody was a loving husband to Chelsea, his devoted wife of 10 years and a proud father to their son, Colton. He was a jack of all trades and took pride in everything he did. He had a lifelong passion for music and played with his friends often from his High School band. He was a talented carpenter, welder, and fabricator and was honored to work alongside some of his best friends at RMI Customs. His kindness, integrity, and infectious sense of humor touched everyone he met, leaving a legacy of love that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Chelsea; his son, Colton; mother, Michelle Dunaway (LD); father, John Sylvest (Robin); brother, Justin Sylvest (Autumn); step-brothers, Dylan Thomas (Charissa), Jay Barringer, TJ Thomas (Heather), Gage Thomas (Chelsea); in-laws, Paul and Robin Hatcher; brother-in-law, Jeff Hatcher (Courtney); grandfather, Greg Dunaway (Peggy); uncles, Tony Dunaway (Ashley), Derk Lockhart (Lisa), Tim Chapman, Charlie Childers (Tracy); aunts, Rita Cable (Rob), Teka Frederick (Mike), Maurie Alford (Eric); and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews that he cherished so much. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Sadie Perkins; grandmother, Connie Newman; grandfather, Robert Sylvest “Pops”; great grandmother, Mary Francis Mathis; great grandfather, LC Dunaway; aunt, Veva Lockhart; and uncle, Eric Alford. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Ochsner Medical Center and LOPA for providing extraordinary care to Cody. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. Cody was an organ donor and will be remembered as the hero he is for all the lives that he has saved.
His Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Holden, LA. Visitation will be from 10 am-11 am, with service held from 11am-12pm by Bro Shain Picou. Fellowship and food will be provided from 12 pm-1 pm.
