Corey David Mayers

GONZALES – A gathering of family and friends will be held for Corey D. Mayers, age 30, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales. Inurnment will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 am.

A native of Baton Rouge and resident of Prairieville, Corey passed away at 5:00 am on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Corey loved art, music and baseball. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. O’Neal, April and the nurses of ICU at Baton Rouge General, Ken Spivey, Brother Rigsby and Mike Haman with Healing Place Church.

He is survived by his mother, Sheila Hano Medina; father, David Mayers and wife Pamela Mayers; grandparents, Fred Berteau, Ronald & Melonie F. Picou, Abeteen Hoyt; son, Austin David Mayers; sisters, Meagan Matthews, Martika Picou; brothers, Scott Matthews, Juan Medina, Sergio Media, two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.B. Mayers, Mary D. Mayers, Ruby Berteau, Willie Leroy Hano and Susan Hano.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Corey’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
