

Curney James Lyons, a resident of Dutchtown and a native of Mire, Louisiana, died on October 3, 2012 of complications from Alzheimer and Parkinson Diseases. He was 79. Curney is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley (Walden) Lyons, sons and daughters-in-law,Thomas Lyons (Lisa) and Hoyt Lyons (Kristi) daughters and son-in-law,Marie Lyons Brown (Kevin) and Jennifer Lyons, sisters Dr. Virginia Lyons (Ellyn Hartman) and Sister Vernola Lyons, FMOL, grandchildren Sydney Brown-Chua, Bryce and Carly Lyons, and Megan and Brooke Stein; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Sidney and Bernadette (Bearb) Lyons, brothers John, Paul Aaron, and Leo Lyons, and granddaughter Megan Leigh Brown. He was employed by the Texas Pipeline Company, Texaco, and retired from Star Enterprises as Manager of Accounting. He was a leader of Boy Scouts of America and an advisor for Junior Achievement. Curney's loves were his family and friends, great food, good company, a decent golf score, and a sunny day for fishing. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice service, Sheila Hebert, Dawn Gilbert, Nicole Boudreaux, and Pat LeJeune for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, La. Visiting will resume on Saturday Oct. 6 at First United Methodist Church 224 W. Constitution St. Gonzales, La. from 9 AM until Religious service at 10AM followed by burial at Oaklane Memorial Park Cemetery Prairieville, La.
