Daniel L. Ehrhart, a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 68. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Throughout his life, he was known for his charismatic personality, quick wit, and generosity.
Dan was born on May 24, 1955, in Salem, Ohio to George and Evelyn Myers Ehrhart. He was a 1973 graduate of Salem High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1977, an MBA from the University of Dayton in 1983, and CPA license. He began his professional career at Marathon Oil Company and it was here that he met his future bride. On May 24, 1980, Dan married Judy K. Myers in Deshler, Ohio. During his 40 years with Marathon, he worked at several domestic locations. For the second half of his career, he was the Louisiana Refining Division Controller in Garyville. He retired from Marathon Petroleum Company in 2017. His colleagues can attest that there was rarely a dull moment when he was around. Like his father, Dan had a contagious wit and knack for humor that could quickly turn ordinary moments into memorable ones.
Outside of work, Dan enjoyed traveling with his family, attending classic rock concerts, and passionately supporting the Cleveland Browns with unwavering loyalty. His love for his team was exceeded only by his love for his family, whom he adored with all his heart.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Randall B. Ehrhart; and his brother-in-law, Howard Hofmann. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Michael Ehrhart of Sorrento, Louisiana, Jennifer Ehrhart of Pearland, Texas, and Mark (Megan) Ehrhart of Spring, Texas; his five grandchildren, Jamie, Julie, Joel, Leah, and Seth Ehrhart; his sisters, Sharon Hofmann of Cortland, Ohio, Carol (Dave) Maenz and Cindy Sines, both of Salem, Ohio; and his brother, Robert (Colleen) Ehrhart of Peoria, Arizona.
