

Dorsey E Chinnery, 79, of Gonzales, Louisiana-formerly of St.Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands-Passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, with his devoted wife, Patricia "Pat" Smith-Chinnery lovingly by his side.
Born on October 7, 1946, in St.Thomas, Dorsey began a long and dedicated career as a postal worker. It was during this chapter of his life that he met the love of his life, Patricia. Following his retirement from the U.S Postal Service, Dorsey and Pat embarked on a new adventure together, opening Club Paradise on Josh Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. The restaurant quickly became a beloved gathering place, and it was there that Dorsey established his first youth club-an early expression of the passion he later poured into helping young people.
After 15 successful years, the couple sold the business and returned to St.Thomas, where Dorsey founded the Savn Boys Club, Inc. His commitment to uplifting youth and supporting his community left an enduring legacy on the island and in the lives of countless young men.
Dorsey was known far and wide. He was strong-willed, straightforward, determined, and dependable-someone who saw every project and every promise through to the end. He loved dancing with his wife Pat, celebrating life with friends, and traveling each year to visit their blended family of five children.
Dorsey loved Horse races, a popular event in the Virgin Islands, he especially loved the gathering with good friends like Meso and Willy. To many, especially in Louisiana, he was affectionately known as "Uncle Dorsey".
A dedicated son, husband, brother, and father above all else, Dorsey leaves behind his wife Pat of 22 years of marriage and a friendship that spans 35 years. His three beloved children from a previous marriage: Atoshika, Dorsey Jr., Renueka. They were the center of his world, and he worked tirelessly to ensure they had every opportunity, every comfort, and every ounce of love he could give.
In the years following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, Dorsey's health declined as he battled dementia, even so, with Pat's unwavering care and strength, he lived his final years surrounded by love, dignity and peace. He left this world gently, with a rare and cherished smile-one that spoke volumes to all who knew his usually serious demeanor.
Dorsey E Chinnery will be remembered as a family man, a community leader, a mentor, a veteran, a devoted husband and a pillar of strength, His life's work lives on in the communities he served and in heart's of all who loved him.
