
A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Alexandria, he died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at his home. He was 85 and proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at noon. Burial in Oaklane Memorial Park, Prairieville. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Helen Smith Looper; daughter, Belinda Looper Dubois; son, Edwin Dwight Looper; sister, Claudia Brossette; five grandchildren, Christopher T. Cascio, Timothy J. Cascio, Lisa Cascio Stewart, Ian Looper and Nicholas Looper; and nine great-grandchildren, Brennan Cascio, Blake Cascio, Cavan Cascio, Sophie Stewart, Sarah Stewart, McKenzie Dale, Blake Looper, Aidan Looper and Landon Looper. He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Roberta Avery Looper; brothers, Armon and Lisso Looper; and sisters, Doris Barrios and Nancy Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Ian Looper, Nicholas Looper, Christopher T. Cascio and Timothy J. Cascio.
